The sailors of the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria would not have known what to make of the space shuttle preparing to take off. Two radically different kinds of technology and yet a common purpose: to explore and learn.
So here’s the big question in my mind: if you think of the school system we have devised to teach our kids as a form of exploration technology, would it be closer to a sailing ship or a space shuttle?
