New TED talk: John Underkoffler – The Future of Computer Interfaces

TED talks are always interesting.  This one is by the guy who created the famous gesture-based interface for the movie Minority Report.  He has been working since then on making that interface real.

The video is amazing, but as a teacher I kept thinking how completely engaged would my students be if they could use something like this???

Be sure to check out the last 2 minutes where they ask him how long till this technology is widespread.  Something like this in the classroom will be disruptive because it is student driven, not teacher driven.

  1. […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Phaedra Boinodiris and PAKRAGames, Andrew Barras. Andrew Barras said: New Post: John Underkoffler at TED. Great tech for the future classroom! #edchat #edtech […]

  2. Very cool, the kids I am teaching are going to interact with computers in a totally different way than we do today. I am remembering how much has changed since I started using a computer. Used to be no mouse and MS DOS! Now touch technology is everywhere. Neat to see.

    • What is amazing to me is how kids can adapt to these new technologies. They don’t marvel at it, they just use it like a tool. Pretty cool!
