Great Video of Augmented Reality

I have mentioned before that I think Augmented Reality is one of the technologies that will change our society the most in the next 10 years. It’s a little hard to see that now because you have to use a phone to see the graphics. Eventually though you will have glasses or contacts that let you expand AR to your whole world.

As primitive as it is now, you can still see the potential in this video. Imagine students being able to overlay learning activities over real life. For example, a students looks at a car and wants to know how an engine works. They would be able to overlay the car with graphics showing an animation of the engine operating. The possibilities are unlimited really.  The computational power to do this already exists in smart phones, and the article I posted yesterday talks about how much faster smart phones are going to get.

Enjoy the video and imagine the future!

  1. This is going to be really neat, it reinforces once again why just having “knowledge” as a result of schooling isn’t going to be enough.

  2. Totally. I see this sort of thing as gaining knowledge by doing. How much more engaging than listen to a lecture and take a test!

Nice to see you again Kelly!!
