Twitter To Buy TweetDeck For $40 Million – $50 Million

Hmm this is interesting… Twitter is buying Tweetdeck, an independant twitter client.

I’m betting they will attempt to switch people over to their own client. Apple has shown that you can make a ton of money if you control the whole ecosystem of a product. Apple doesn’t just sell iPods and iPhones. They also sell you the content too.

Twitter wants to do that. It’s a good move but we will see if they drive users away from their service with too much advertising.

Easy come, easy go on the Internet. Just ask MySpace.

    • Twitter has acquired TweetDeck, we’ve heard from a source with knowledge of the deal, and the transaction will be announced in the next few days. The $40 million – $50 million purchase price includes both cash and Twitter stock, says our source.

    • This deal is defensive for Twitter, say all the sources we’ve spoken with over the last couple of months. They simply couldn’t allow UberMedia to have so much market share in this space.
