Let’s just kick back a little bit and watch some amazing videos.
First, this is a time lapse video of a city. You have probably seen similar things before.
What is interesting here is this is taken in the virtual cities of San Fierro and Las Venturas that appear in the new video game Grand Theft Auto V. Now, I have no interest in this game, which is basically a crime simulator but you have to appreciate the scope of the world you play in. Now let’s have this turned into an educational environment.
The second video is what happens when you take two panels, two robots and a projector and put them all together. Note that what you are seeing is what you would actually see if you were there in person. There were no special effects added afterwards. (H/T Singularity Hub)
That is truly amazing. So how can we put this sort of technology into the hands of students? Of course one of the biggest problems is the focus on STEM classes at the expense of art. With this sort of technology, aren’t you learning both?
