Welcome!
Since January of 2010 I have written a post nearly every day for a total of over 1100 posts! The purpose of this blog is to try to figure out how the way we learn is changing and going to change with continued technological progress. I look at advances in technology and try to figure out how it can change society and thus education. There are several things I have determined so far.
I believe…
- Our current way of educating children (K-12) is out of date and should be completely replaced.
- The K-12 school system exists to perpetuate itself rather than educate kids.
- The higher education system is way too expensive and has an obsolete business model. Much of it will be remade or flat out destroyed in the next 15 years.
- Schools are reflections of the needs of society. Society is drastically changing, thus the way we learn needs to change too.
The first 4 years of this blog was spent thinking about these issues and arriving at these conclusions. Keep in mind this is a work in progress but I am at least at a place where I can start packaging this thinking up for other people.
With that in mind, I am creating a resource section to help new readers get up to speed on the topics we talk about here. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk about these topics or if you have questions!
